Mahindra Thar AX & AX Std silently removed from website

Entry level variants of Mahindra Thar, with fixed soft top and side facing rear seats no longer on sale. Prices of Thar now start at Rs. 11.90 lakh.

It appears that Mahindra has silently removed the AX and AX Std variants of the Thar from the brand's website. These were the cheaper variants that were priced from Rs. 9.80 lakh. This means that the Thar now starts at Rs. 11.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The new Thar is based on the Gen3 chassis. The AX variants were offered with a fixed soft top, side facing seats, steel wheels, mechanical lockable differentials and a manual transmission. Higher variants come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity among other features.

The Thar is offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mStallion petrol that produces 150 BHP and 320 Nm and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel that makes 130 BHP and 320 Nm. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive with a manual shift transfer case is standard across all variants.
