Mahindra to unveil convertible SUV concept at 2018 Auto Expo

Mahindra will reportedly showcase a new convertible SUV concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. According to a media report, it will be built on the TUV300's ladder-frame chassis and is likely to be less than 4 meters in length.

Although Mahindra hasn't disclosed any information about the powertrain, it is believed that the convertible SUV might feature a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder mHawk100 diesel engine. In the TUV300, this engine makes 100 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 240 Nm @ 1,600-2800 rpm. The engine comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

In the past, brands like Nissan and Land Rover have showcased convertible SUVs. Nissan built a drop-top Murano while Land Rover chopped the roof of the Evoque to create a high-riding convertible SUV. Both these cars have received a mixed reaction in the international markets. Hence, it will be interesting to see how Indians react to this concept.
