Mahindra XUV300 spied; is it the more powerful Sportz trim?

XUV300 Sportz is touted to be the most powerful model in the sub-4 meter SUV segment.

A test mule of the Mahindra XUV300 has been spotted in Chennai. It has been speculated that it might be the rumoured Sportz variant powered by the more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mStallion engine.

The engine in question is Mahindra's 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder mStallion direct injection turbo-petrol unit. It produces 128 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 230 Nm @ 1,500-3,750 rpm. The engine could be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. Currently, the XUV300 is offered with a 1.2L turbo engine that is rated at 109 BHP / 200 Nm. This engine is essentially a reworked & turbocharged version of the 1.2L unit found in the KUV100.

The test car seen here looks identical to the standard XUV300. It appears to be an all-black example and is equipped with black alloy wheels. There are chrome inserts on the front fascia, and it also has fog lamps, roof rails as well as ORVMs with turn indicators.

The XUV300 Sportz was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. When launched, this variant is expected to be positioned at the top of the XUV300 line-up and is touted to be the most powerful sub-4 meter SUV.
