Mahindra XUV900 name applied for trademark in India

It seems likely that the XUV900 might replace the Alturas G4.

Mahindra has applied for a trademark of the name 'XUV900' in India.

While details about the new model are scarce, it is believed to be a large SUV that could be positioned above the upcoming XUV700 (next-gen XUV500).

We had reported that there were rumours about the Alturas G4 being taken off the shelves in 2021. Also, there have been reports of Mahindra developing a new large SUV. Therefore, it seems likely that the XUV900 might replace the Alturas G4. It would lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster and the Tiguan Allspace.

Meanwhile, Mahindra is gearing up to launch the XUV700 later this year. It will be positioned above the XUV500, which will be temporarily discontinued. The latter is expected to be re-introduced in a refreshed avatar at a later date.
