Maruti Baleno Cross, Jimny 5-door launch timelines revealed

The Baleno Cross is likely to be launched in April 2023, while the Jimny 5-door could go on sale by August.

Maruti Suzuki will unveil two new models at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. These include the Baleno Cross (codenamed: YTB) and the much-awaited Jimny 5-door. A new report now sheds light on their expected launch timelines.

The report states that the Baleno Cross is likely to be launched in April next year, while the Jimny 5-door could go on sale by August. Both models will be sold via the brand’s Nexa retail network.

The Maruti YTB is a Baleno-based monocoque crossover. It could be powered by the BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine that was earlier offered in the Baleno RS. Lower variants could use the 1.2-litre unit from Baleno.

The Jimny 5-door will compete with the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. It is said that this lifestyle SUV will use the K15B petrol engine paired with a mild-hybrid system instead of the newer K15C unit. The engine will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic and Suzuki’s All Grip Pro all-wheel drive system.
