Maruti Baleno test mule spied again; could it be a hybrid?

Maruti could be testing a BS6-compliant 1.5L diesel engine or a hybrid powertrain.

A Maruti Suzuki Baleno test mule has been spotted once again. This time, the car had strain gauges attached to all four of its wheels.

The exhaust is clearly visible in one of the images. Therefore, we can rule out the possibility of it being an electric car.

That leaves us with two possibilities - Maruti could either be testing a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is said to be due next year or a hybrid powertrain developed in collaboration with Toyota.

Meanwhile, the carmaker is reportedly working on a Baleno-based crossover codenamed YTB as well.
