Maruti Ciaz snapped at close range

The test mule of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan has been caught on camera once again. The new set of pictures put up on the internet gives us a closer look at the car.

The pictures show the top-end variant of the Ciaz with 16-inch alloy wheels. The exterior of the production-spec car looks largely similar to that of the concept. However, unlike the concept which had dual exhausts, the production version comes with a single tail pipe. A pair of reflectors takes the place of the dual exhausts in the rear bumper.

The interior of the Ciaz has a dual tone theme. There is a black dashboard with a start/stop button, an audio system with a 5-inch display with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in compatibility and a multi-function steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustments. The car has beige leather seats and door panels. There is a centre armrest for the front passengers and the driver's seat is height-adjustable. The car also has a dead pedal, auto dimming rear view mirror and AC vents for the rear seat passengers.

When the Ciaz is launched, it is expected to be available with a choice of two engines:

• 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, K-Series petrol (94 bhp @ 6000 rpm, 130 Nm @ 4000 rpm)
• 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, DDiS diesel (89 bhp @ 4000 rpm, 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm)

Along with a manual gearbox, a Continuously Variable Transmission is likely to be offered.
