Maruti Ertiga's 1.3L diesel variant discontinued

Maruti Suzuki is no longer offering the Ertiga with a 1.3-litre diesel engine option.

The Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine is said to be slowly phased out as it won't be upgraded to meet the BS-VI emission norms that will come into effect from April 1, 2020.

The only diesel option now available on the Ertiga is a 1.5-litre, which too is expected to be discontinued before BS-VI norms kick-in. This engine produces 94 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 225 Nm @ 1,500-2,500 rpm.

In addition to this, the Ertiga will continue to be offered with a BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. It produces 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. The upcoming Maruti XL6 MPV is also expected to get the same engine.
