Maruti Jimny 5-door production begins in India

Maruti is said to have received around 25,000 bookings. Depending on the variant the waiting period is around 6-8 months.

Series production of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has commenced in India. The off-roader is being built at the brand's Gurgaon plant.

The Jimny 5-door was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. Since then, Maruti is said to have received around 25,000 bookings. Reports suggest that the official prices are likely to be announced during the first week of next month.

In India, the Jimny will be offered in four variants with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission. It is said that the waiting period for manual variants is around 6-months, while the wait for automatic variants could stretch from 6-8 months.

Powering the Jimny is a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 134.2 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system.
