Maruti to kick-off Jimny 5-door production in April 2023

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the most anticipated SUVs of 2023, with over 18,000 cars already booked.

Maruti Suzuki debuted the India-spec Jimny 5-door at Auto Expo 2023. While the lifestyle off-roader will be launched in the coming months, as per the latest reports, production is expected to commence in April 2023.

Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki aims to build 1 lakh units of the Jimny 5-door each year. 66% of the production volume, about 7,000 units per month, will be allotted for the domestic market, while the rest will be exported overseas.

In India, the Jimny will be offered in two variants: Zeta and Alpha, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 134.2 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the most anticipated SUVs of 2023, with over 18,000 cars already booked. Reports suggest that it could be priced around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
