Maruti to replace rear-axle on select 2nd-gen Ertiga & XL6

Faulty rear-axles are said to cause uneven tyre wear on some Maruti Ertiga and XL6 MPVs.

Maruti Suzuki has decided to replace the rear-axle on select second-generation Ertiga and XL6 MPVs, after receiving complaints of uneven tyre wear.

This isn't a mass recall and it's only for those customers who are facing the said issue. The company had issued a circular to all dealers back on January 6, 2021, regarding the same.

Some of the cars manufactured before October 2020 (LK) are said to be fitted with faulty rear-axles, that are said to cause uneven tyre wear. The part number in question is 46500M72R10, which will be replaced with the updated 46500M72R11.

If your vehicle was manufactured prior to October 2020 and you're facing a similar issue, your vehicle could be equipped with a faulty axle. Note that if you are used to rotating the wheels at regular intervals, you may not notice uneven tire wear. In that case, observe the wear on the rear tyres for at least 10,000 km before swapping out the axle.
