Maruti sells 31,000 Dzires in August; a new record

Maruti Dzire has become the no. 1 selling car in India in the month of August. According to the sales figures, Maruti Suzuki sold 30,934 units of the Dzire compact sedan last month, setting a new record. This number includes the new-generation Dzire (private owners) and previous-generation Dzire which is sold only to taxi operators. Maruti Alto was in the second position with over 21,521 units dispatched last month followed by the Baleno at 17,190 units. Hyundai Grand i10 was the highest selling non-Maruti car in the seventh position at 12,306 units.

The third generation Maruti Dzire was launched in May 2017. The compact sedan is built on Maruti's new HEARTECT platform, which it shares with the Baleno. The car comes with projector headlights with LED DRLs and a 7.0-inch infotainment system. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist are standard across all variants.

The Dzire is offered with two engine options - a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 4,200 rpm and a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel that makes 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. Both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and AMT is also available as an option.
