Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 facelift spied

A refreshed version of Maruti Suzuki's entry level hatchback - the Alto 800 has been spied. According to media reports, the launch of the car is scheduled for the second week of May 2016 - just before the launch of the Datsun Redi-GO, which is scheduled to be launched in the first week of June.

The facelifted Alto 800 is not likely to be priced higher than the outgoing model, since the price is the ultimate selling point of the Alto. The design changes that are visible in the pictures include a redesigned, hexagonal grille and bumper. The headlamps seem to have received minor changes as well and the higher variants could get round front fog lamps. The rear and the side profile of the car don’t look much different compared to the current model.

The current model of the Alto comes with a 796cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 12-valve engine makes 47 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 69 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm. The Alto is the best-selling car in India with over 22,000 units sold in the month of March 2016.
