Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS to be launched on September 1, 2015

Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will launch the Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) in India on September 1, 2015.

The Ciaz SHVS is powered by the same 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, 89 BHP diesel engine from the Ciaz diesel. The car is also equipped with Suzuki's SHVS technology, which features an idling start / stop system and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). While the vehicle is coasting or braking, the ISG charges the batteries. The power is stored in the battery and the system combines it with the power from the engine to help the vehicle during acceleration.

The start / stop system switches off the engine when the car is not in motion and switches it on when the clutch is depressed. With the SHVS system, the Ciaz's certified fuel economy figure is expected to be better than that of the regular diesel version. 

Maruti Suzuki is expected to use SHVS technology in other cars as well.
