Maruti Suzuki has announced the launch of the Fronx. The new crossover is available in five variants with prices starting at Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Maruti Fronx was unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. It is based on the Heartect platform and measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,550 mm in height, and its wheelbase is 2,520 mm.
The Fronx has a Grand Vitara-inspired front fascia with a large grille flanked by LED daytime running lights. The front bumper houses triple-pod LED headlights that are housed inside triangular pods. The square-ish fenders get black plastic cladding that adds a rugged look. The rear features slim LED tail lights with a light bar and a silver skid plate.
The Fronx gets a dual-tone interior with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display and over 40 connected car features.
The Maruti Fronx is available with two engine options. These include a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet motor that makes 89 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The second engine option is an all-new 1.0-litre K-Series Boosterjet turbo-petrol that puts out 99 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 148 Nm @ 2,000-4,500 rpm. This engine is offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
The 1.2-litre petrol engine is claimed to return 21.79 km/l (5MT) and 22.89 km/l (AMT), while the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit delivers 21.50 km/l (5MT) and 20.01 km/l (6AT).
The Fronx comes loaded with several safety features including 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist & Roll Over Mitigation, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX.
