Maruti Suzuki to increase production in October

Production is expected to rise by 60-80% compared to September.

Maruti Suzuki had to cut production by as much as 60% over the last couple of months. However, production is expected to pick up once again in the month of October.

According to a media report, the carmaker has told its component suppliers to be ready for the production of 1,60,000-1,80,000 cars in October 2021. The output is expected to be 60-80% more compared to September, but 5% less than the previous year. Maruti aims to build over 5,00,000 vehicles in the third quarter of this fiscal.

Maruti Suzuki has had to reduce production due to the semiconductor shortage. It is said that the company is now making arrangements to secure the supply of chipsets through multiple channels, which should help increase the output. Southeast Asian factories are said to be working 7-days a week in three shifts to cater to the global demand.
