Maruti Suzuki production back on track as chip supply sorted

Chip supply is expected to normalize in the coming months as Malaysian manufacturing has almost hit 100%.

Maruti Suzuki's production is expected to be back to normal levels in the coming months as chip supplies have improved.

According to a media report, Maruti has ramped up production of the Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and other models. It is likely to produce around 1.50 lakh units in November 2021, which is close to the monthly average production. It is said that December output could be even higher.

Maruti Suzuki's output had dropped 50-60% in September and October due to the global semiconductor shortage. However, production has been slowly picking up since then. October output was 40% higher than September, while November output is expected to be 20% more than the previous month. Currently, the carmaker is said to have an order backlog of around 2.50 lakh units.
