Maruti Suzuki's total sales in India cross 2 crore

Maruti Suzuki has claimed that the company's cumulative sales in India have crossed the 2 crore mark.

According to the company, the sales milestone was achieved in less than 37 years since the first car was sold. In the next 29 years, Maruti sold 1 crore cars, but it took just 8 years to sell the next 1 crore cars.

Maruti sold the first 10 lakh cars in 1994-95. By 2005-05, the company had sold 50 lakh cars and in 2016-17, the 1.5 crore sales milestone was reached.

Maruti Suzuki's first offering in the Indian market was the iconic Maruti 800, which went on sale on December 14, 1983.
