Maruti & Toyota mid-size SUV spied; to rival Hyundai Creta

The new mid-size SUV (codenamed: YFG) is expected to be based on the DNGA platform.

Maruti Suzuki, together with its partner Toyota, is working on a new mid-size SUV to take on the Hyundai Creta. Spy images of the upcoming model have now surfaced online.

The new mid-size SUV (codenamed: YFG) is expected to be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, which is a low-cost version of Toyota's TNGA architecture.

The spy images suggest that both Maruti and Toyota versions will have a distinct front fascia. The cars have different LED daytime running light graphics, while the main headlamp clusters are positioned on the front bumper.

Inside, the SUVs are likely to come with a floating touchscreen infotainment system.

Reports suggest that the new SUVs could be powered by a strong hybrid, unlike the mild-hybrid powertrains that we find in current Maruti models. Both versions may be produced at Toyota's manufacturing facility in Karnataka.
