Maruti's hybrid MPV could be a re-badged Innova Hycross

Maruti Suzuki could offer a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid MPV.

The Toyota Innova Hycross is set to make its global debut in November, prior to its India launch. It will be a strong-hybrid version of the popular MPV and if rumours are to be believed, a re-badged version could be offered by Maruti Suzuki as well.

According to a media report, Toyota will share the next-gen Innova with Maruti Suzuki, opening up the doors for the homegrown brand to enter the segment.

Unlike the current Innova, the Innova Hycross will be based on a monocoque. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The MPV will also switch to a front-wheel drive configuration.

Toyota and Maruti have been offering badge-engineered products ever since the two automakers got into a partnership agreement. The brands have launched models like the Urban Cruiser, Glanza and more recently the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder as part of the deal.
