Max Verstappen wins the 2019 Austrian GP

Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won the 2019 Austrian GP. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc came in second place ahead of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes).

Leclerc started from pole position with Verstappen alongside him, following Lewis Hamilton's (Mercedes) penalty. The Red Bull driver had a slow start allowing Hamilton to pass him before the first corner. The Dutchman would eventually make his way up the field from 7th place to take the lead two laps before the checkered flag.

Leclerc led most of the race but had to settle for second place. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) started the race down in 9th place. He made up a few places at the start and later, a 2-stop strategy helped him secure fourth place. Hamilton had to settle for fifth place.

Lando Norris (McLaren) finished in sixth ahead of Pierre Gasly in the Red Bull. Carlos Sainz (McLaren) finished in eighth place, while Alfa Romeo's Kimi Raikkonen came ninth ahead of his teammate Antonio Giovinazzi.

Max Verstappen also set the fastest lap of the race and secured the bonus point. The next race will be held at Silverstone in the UK on July 14, 2019.
