Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 electric sedan launched at Rs. 2.45 crore

Mercedes plans to launch the locally assembled EQS 580 at a later date.

Mercedes-Benz has launched its flagship electric sedan, the AMG EQS 53 in India. The car is priced at Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom).

Mercedes plans to introduce the EQS 580 in India as well. It will be positioned below the AMG version and will be assembled locally.

The EQS is the first model to be based on the EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) platform. The car gets LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs connected together by an LED strip, as well as LED taillights again connected by an LED strip. It also gets flush-fitting door handles with illumination function and rides on 21-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, it gets the brand’s latest Hyperscreen, making up the entire dashboard with three digital displays. These include the instrument cluster, the touchscreen infotainment unit and a third display for the front passenger. The car is equipped with a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, MBUX rear seat tablet, ambient lighting and biometric authentication.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ packs two electric motors – one on each axle. Together they produce 762 BHP and 1020 Nm. The motors are powered by a 107.8 kWh battery pack that is said to offer a range of up to 586 km on a single charge. Mercedes claims that the EV can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

The AMG EQS 53 comes with a 10 years / 2,50,000 km battery warranty and the service interval is every 2 years or 30,000 km.
