Mercedes-Benz is all set to debut the electric G-Wagon in India on January 9.
The 'G 580 with EQ Technology' is based on a ladder-frame chassis just like its ICE counterpart. The SUV is powered by four electric motors – 2 in the front and 2 in the rear - producing 580 BHP and 1165 Nm. Mercedes claims the electric G-Wagon can sprint from 0-98 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h.
The G 580 comes with a 116 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 386 km on a single charge. It comes with fast-charging capabilities of up to 200 kW at Level 3 DC charger, allowing 10-80% charge in 30 minutes.
In terms of design, the G 580 looks similar to the ICE version, except for a few details, such as the gloss black front panel with an illuminated surround, reworked bumpers, and a raised bonnet. The SUV has circular LED headlights, LED taillights, and a storage box at the rear to carry the charging cables.
The interior also looks identical to the standard G-Class. It features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, keyless entry, a Burmester sound system, and rear seat entertainment units.
