Mercedes-Benz EQG name trademarked for electric G-Class SUVs

Mercedes-Benz has filed an application to trademark the ‘EQG’ name for its upcoming G-Class electric SUV.

Mercedes-Benz could soon introduce an electric version of its popular G-Class SUVs. The parent company of the brand, Daimler AG is said to have filed an application to trademark two names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The two names, EQG 560 and EQG 580 have been filed for trademark by Daimler AG on the April 1, 2021. As per the application, both names have been registered under ‘Motor vehicles & parts thereof’ classification. The two names are yet to be certified, with the applications said to still be under examination.

The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class electric SUV once introduced could be part of the brand’s ‘EQ’ range. The introduction of an electric version of the G-Wagon is also in line with the brand’s own plans of electrifying its future products.

Apart from the trademark filing for the upcoming electric SUV’s name, no other details have been revealed. However, we can expect the new electric version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class to come with a new architecture, as well as a host of other changes and updates.
