Mercedes-Benz imports CLS diesel into India; launch in 2015

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has imported 5 units of the facelifted CLS 250 CDI four-door coupe into India, suggesting that the car could be launched in the coming year.

The 2015 CLS 250 CDI features a 2,143 cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of producing 201 bhp @ 3800 rpm and 500 Nm of torque @ 1600-1800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox.

The CLS 250 CDI is expected to replace the pre-facelift CLS 350 in India. It features a bolder grille, bumper with larger air ducts, LED headlamps and redesigned alloy wheels. The rear end of the car has been left unchanged except for the addition of a more aggressive bumper. On the inside, of the car gets a multifunction, three-spoke steering wheel and a display screen that rises out of the dashboard.

Mercedes-Benz will pit the CLS against the Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe.
