Mercedes Benz to launch E-Class facelift on June 25th?

A report with its origins from the Press Trust of India, carried by TheHindu, states that the Mercedes Benz E-Class Facelift is due for a launch in India, on the 25th of June 2013. The facelifted 2014 E-Class being up and ready for a launch isn't very surprising as a report originating on IndianCarsBikes suggested that the new E-Class, along with the B-Class Diesel, had already reached ARAI for the critical homologation process. So, a June-end launch for the E-Class is very much on the anvil.

The facelifted 2014 E-Class is a comprehensive makeover of Mercedes Benz's best selling car model in the Indian luxury car market. The facelifted model comes with a host of changes, both on the exteriors and the interiors. The front end gets a major revamp with new, single unit headlamps replacing the twin pod units. The front bumper is an all new item while the grille gets a big dollop of chrome. At the rear, the bumper and tail lamps see a makeover, which is more sober than the sharper style job up front. A new character line runs across the flanks of the car to enliven the profile of the car, for a more visually dynamic appearance.

In terms of other notable changes, the low beam and daytime running lamps of the new headlamps get an all-LED treatment. Full LED headlamps are available as an option. Also, the 2014 Mercedes Benz E-Class, for the first time in the car model's history, will be available with two positions of the three pointed star, on the bonnet in the Elegance trim, and on the grille in the Avantgarde trim.

On the inside, the new E-Class gets a revamped dashboard and center console. The seats get new upholstery and overall, Mercedes Benz claims that the interior trim has been given a once over to improve the feeling of quality. The space on offer on the insides remains unchanged as the 2014 E-Class retains the wheelbase and dimensions of the pre-facelift model.

Under the hood, Mercedes Benz has added start-stop technology as standard to the 2014 E-Class, as a fuel sipping and emission cutting measure. From an Indian perspective, the German car maker has left most engines unchanged, with the only major difference being that the engines are now more frugal than ever before.

On the safety front, the 2014 E-Class is loaded to the gills with active and safety passive features. From a host of Pre-Safe technologies to Distronic Cruise Control and automatic parking assist, the 2014 E-Class is feature filled, as is expected of a German executive luxury saloon. International markets also get a range of suspension options to choose from. We'll have to wait and watch for the exact spec of the 2014 E-Class that Mercedes Benz will launch in India.

Apart from the E-Class, another major launch expected from Mercedes Benz India in June 2013 is the diesel variant of the B-Class. The B-Class Diesel will feature a 2.2 Liter turbo diesel engine that outputs 108 Bhp-250 Nm, the same unit that does duty on the A-Class sports hatchback. A 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox will handle torque transmission duties to the front wheels of the car.

Mercedes Benz India is basking in the success of the recently launched A-Class sports hatchback, a car that has registered over 400 bookings in a short span of time. Launches of the A-Class sports hatchback, the B-Class Diesel, the GL-Class SUV, the 2014 E-Class facelift and the all new 2014 S-Class could give the German luxury car maker a solid shot in the arm this year as many of these cars have big potential to be volume pullers in the Indian car market.
