Mercedes lines up 7 AMG models for India in 2021

Some of the upcoming AMG models will be manufactured locally.

Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, has stated that the company plans to launch seven AMG models in India this year. Some of these will be manufactured locally at Mercedes' Chakan facility.

The AMG GLC 43 Coupe was the first AMG model to be assembled in India. The recently launched AMG A 35 sedan is also assembled locally.

Other AMG models that Mercedes currently offers in India include the G 63, GLE 53 Coupe, C 63 Coupe, AMG GT and AMG GT 4-Door in India. These cars are imported as completely built units (CBUs).

In the first quarter alone, Mercedes has launched two new models in India - E Class facelift and A Class Limousine. Later this year, the carmaker plans to introduce the next-generation GLA crossover and C Class.
