MG Astor to get Reliance Jio-based connected car tech

The MG Astor will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

MG Motor India has announced that its upcoming SUV, rumoured to be called the 'Astor', will use Reliance Jio's platform for its connected car tech.

According to MG, Jio's 4G network is spread across all parts of the country and has a wide customer base. It will enable high-speed in-car connectivity.

The Astor is expected to get connected car features, just like the Hector. The latter is offered with over 50 connected features including remote operation, online navigation, Over-the-Air updates (OTA) and a bunch of other safety features.

The SUV will be offered with two petrol engine options. These include a 1.5-litre unit producing 118 BHP and 150 Nm and a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine with 161 BHP and 230 Nm. Expect it to come with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

The MG Astor is expected to be launched during this festive season. It will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks in the Indian market.
