MG Maxus D90 & Hector to get an in-house 2.0L diesel engine

According to a media report, MG is likely to offer an in-house developed 2.0-litre diesel engine on the Maxus D90 and the 2022 Hector in India.

At present, the Hector comes with a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel unit that produces 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The Maxus D90 and the 2022 Hector are likely to get a 2.0-litre, twin-turbo diesel that produces 215 BHP and 480 Nm of torque. This engine is said to be derived from Fiat's 2.0-litre unit.

The Maxus D90 is expected to be positioned above the Hector. It could compete with the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4.

MG is also working on a 6-seater version of the Hector.
