ASEAN NCAP has awarded the MG ZS SUV facelift a 5-star safety rating. This rating is applicable for made-in-Thailand cars, which are sold in the Thai and Vietnamese markets.

The ZS scored 44.82 points for adult occupant protection, 20.90 points for child occupant protection and 15.28 points for Safety Assist Tests. This gave it a total score of 81 points. In the frontal offset impact test, the protection for the driver's chest was rated at marginal, while the protection for the passenger's chest and right knee was rated as adequate. Protection for other areas of the driver and passenger was rated as good. The bodyshell of the car was rated stable. In the side impact test, protection for all impact areas on the test dummy was rated as good.

The test car was equipped with 2 airbags, ABS, ESC and seatbelt reminder system. Side and curtain airbags are available as an option on higher variants. The car is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit producing 105 BHP and 150 Nm.

In India, the ZS is offered only with an electric powertrain. That said, the petrol ZS has been spotted in India last year.
