Hyundai recently conducted a customer survey of the next-generation Santro (AH2). During the event, a pre-production version of the car was previewed in front of select Hyundai customers.

Starting with the exterior, the new Santro features large headlamps with fog lights placed just under it and bulky tail lights. The tail itself is similar to that of the Grand i10. Like the updated Grand i10, the new Santro also features dual-tone rear bumpers with black inserts. The rear passenger window has a slight dip and the doors have pull-up type door handles. Besides this, the car comes equipped with electric ORVMs with integrated turn signals and a rear wiper. Like test mules spotted earlier, the display car was riding on steel wheels. Logos and variant badges were covered.

The new Santro gets dual-tone interiors in black and beige and a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. The power window switches are placed behind the gear lever. Front and rear seats get fixed headrests and rear passengers get a bottle holder which is placed between the front seats. The display car did not have an engine start / stop button or keyless entry.

The car has a flat boot with a minimal load lip. That said, the rear suspension eats into the luggage space. The car appears to have a provision to install a CNG kit. However, it is not clear whether a CNG variant would be offered at launch.

The next-gen Santro is expected to be offered with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The hatchback is likely to be launched later this year.
