Mumbai: Arrest warrants against those with pending e-challans

According to a media report, from December 1, 2019, the Mumbai Traffic Police will request the courts to issue arrest warrants against those with pending e-challans.

The report states that the police are yet to recover around Rs. 80 crore in fines. The police had started sending SMSes and letters to offenders with an aim to recover the fines, but did not receive a positive response.

It has been reported that 27 lakh e-challans still remain unsettled. These include more than 9,000 vehicles carrying a penalty of Rs. 5,000 and more.
