My Vento's RC wrongly mentions Polo as model name: Need Advice

The dealer I got the car from has shut down and the new dealer has no history of the vehicle.

BHPian parambyte recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hello. When we bought our Volkswagen Vento, we didn't notice (I know, I know, I should have noticed this error then), but on the old paper RC, the car was mentioned wrongly as a Polo (though the engine size, description as 'saloon' etc is all right).

Now we noticed this when we were removing the bank hypothecation (loan is paid off). And now we have to correct this.

Unfortunately, the original dealer has shut the shop. Volkswagen asked us to get the relevant letter (I think it the Form 21, or Form 22, which RTO has asked us to provide, without which the change cannot be made) from the new dealer. Obviously, the new dealer has no sales invoice or history so he can't help.

Volkswagen Customer Care has asked us to write an email to them regarding this. But as usual, it is taking forever and I have to make many calls and emails to get even one small reply, and on every call, one has to explain the whole process again.

What can I do to expedite the process with Volkswagen? Surely they would have a record of this card (Engine Number/Chassis Number etc) and they should be able to furnish a letter saying this car is indeed a Volkswagen Vento?

Any advice?

Here's what BHPian dailydriver had to say on the matter:

The documents you are trying to get from the dealer are available with the RTO itself. You can either pay an agent to procure copies or file an RTI application seeking them.

The first is easy, less time-consuming but not exactly legal. The second will take about a month but will cost just ₹20 and is completely legal.

Choose whichever seems good to you.
