My Yamaha R1 WGP 50th Anv Edition: 47000km up & ride to Horsely Hills

The clutch slipping around that rpm was confirmed in the subsequent rides that followed too.

Update: Ride to Horsley Hills and 47,000KMS on the ODO

Horsley Hills had been a destination on our radar for a while. So a small discussion got brewing in our small group about a ride out of town and Horsley Hills got quickly chosen, as it would turn out almost all of us had been to Horsley before but it was almost over 10 years back for all of us. So we were looking forward to this quite a bit.

Took the bike out for a proper wash at Gloss Factor the day before.

The color shift on the Akra is starting to show strongly

All clean and shiny!

Met up with @wolfy at Indiranagar just after

There were totally 5 of us, Xaos636 on his 10R, Wolfy on the CBR1000RR(Yup, that's Xaos636's ex ), Chez on his Hypermotard with a dry clutch(Man the sound was insane ) and Anant & his better half on their Monster 1200S and lastly me on the R1.

Only Xaos636, wolfy, and I could make it to Horsley as the other 2 had some time limitations which had them return earlier.

Now remember me saying about the power loss I felt in the previous post and me having used the LM 4T shooter to see if it was bad fuel or slightly clogged injectors, so I had used 2 bottles of these with 2 full tanks of fuel with this ride being the second one(there was another regular ride done before this the previous day just to cycle a full tank of fuel through the system), but no perceivable difference was felt. But I started to feel something during the Horsley ride when around the 6500-7000 rpm range the clutch seemed to be slightly slipping, it's only super evident when you hold the revs at that rev range and when you pass through said rpm range it almost not noticeable.

Now this explains what happened the other day, I must have been holding the revs around 6500-7000 when the clutch started slipping the bike was not putting out power to the rear wheel and that disrupted the bike mid-corner and caused that scary episode.

The clutch slipping around that rpm was confirmed in the subsequent rides that followed too.

Enjoy the photos from the ride:

Xaos636 joins in

wolfy joins in a bit ahead

Anant joins in on his monster

Just before the Italians took an U-Turn

Finally at Horsley

The view was awesome to say the least and the climate was also pretty chill

The return ride wasn't as chill/cold as expected

Oh yeah, the R1 hits 47,000kms on the ODO too during this ride

Customary ODO meter shot at the end of the ride

Trip meter for the day

The R1 and the 10R, all ready for the next ride

Cheers

Krishna
