New 333 BHP VW Golf R priced at $81,582 sold out in 8 minutes

The production of the Golf R 333 will begin in September this year

Volkswagen has unveiled the new Golf R 333 - a special limited edition version of its flagship hot hatch. The German carmaker will produce only 333 units of the new Golf R, all of which, are expected to get a bunch of upgrades, including a few exclusive exterior & interior elements, along with some mechanical changes.

The 2024 VW Golf R 333 comes with a special lime yellow metallic paint with a black roof and '333' decals on the doors and sits on a set of 19-inch black alloys. Inside, the hot hatch gets sports seats with leather upholstery, a Harmon Kardon sound system and a small plaque on the dashboard with the car's numbered designation.

The Golf R 333 is powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the standard Golf R. However, Volkswagen has tuned the power unit to offer a higher 333 BHP, allowing the hot hatch to sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in a claimed 4.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of 270 km/h. The limited edition Golf R also comes with an Akrapovic performance exhaust as standard and semi-slick tyres. Other mechanical upgrades include drilled disc brakes and adjustable shock absorbers.

The new VW Golf R 333 is priced at 76,410 euros (US$ 81,582), making it the most expensive version of the hatchback. Having said that, all 333 examples of the hatchback sold out in just 8 minutes after it was unveiled. The production of the Golf R 333 will begin in September this year, with deliveries expected a month later.
