New BMW X8 flagship SUV with 750 BHP coming soon

BMW is said to be working on a new X8 SUV, which will be positioned above the X7 and rival the Lamborghini Urus.

BMW has been working on introducing a new flagship model to its SUV range. The new model will come in the form of the BMW X8 and will be positioned above the current flagship, the X7. The upcoming SUV is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2022.

Ahead of its global unveil, the new BMW X8 has been spotted undergoing testing. The spy images of the new BMW X8 showcase the SUV with dimensions similar to its X7 sibling. However, reports do suggest that the X8 will be an all-new model, built from the ground up.

Reports also mention that the new BMW X8 will be an M-only SUV. The upcoming SUV is expected to be offered in four variants - X8 M45e, X8 M50i, X8 M and X8 M iPerformance. The entry-level X8 M45e is said to feature a plug-in hybrid alongside an in-line six-cylinder engine.

The remaining three variants, however, will make use of the brand's 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 unit. The range-topping variant (X8 M iPerformance) is also expected to feature a 200 BHP electric motor, which combined with the V8 engine, is said to have a total power output of around 750 BHP.

The BMW X8 once introduced is said to take on high-end performance SUVs, such as the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga V8 and the Mercedes-AMG G63.
