New car launches in India in August 2022

Here is a look at all the important car launches expected to take place in August 2022.

2022 Maruti Alto K10

Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the next-generation Alto in the Indian market on August 18, 2022.

The new Alto is likely to be offered with two engine options. These include the existing 796cc petrol unit that makes 47 BHP and 69 Nm and the 1.0-litre DualJet from the S-Presso. The latter makes 67 BHP and 89 Nm.

New-gen Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai has opened bookings for the fourth-generation Tucson in India. Customers can book their cars by paying a token amount of Rs. 50,000. The SUV will be officially launched on August 4, 2022.

The Tucson is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that makes 154 BHP and 192 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel that makes 183 BHP and 416 Nm. While the former comes with a 6-speed automatic, the diesel engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic

Mahindra launched the Scorpio-N in India last month. However, the carmaker will continue to sell the old model under the 'Scorpio Classic' name.

The Scorpio Classic is likely to be offered with a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 130 BHP @ 3,750 rpm. The engine could be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Toyota unveiled the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV at the beginning of this month. Now, the carmaker is said to be gearing up to announce its prices in August 2022.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder shares its underpinnings with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. The latter is expected to go on sale after the Hyryder’s launch. Both SUVs will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the likes.

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53

Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to launch the AMG EQS 53 electric sedan in India on August 24, 2022. It will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ packs 649 BHP and 950 Nm and is powered by a 107.8 kWh battery pack. The company claims that the EV can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and can travel up to 570 km on a single charge.
