New-gen Hyundai Verna teased ahead of India launch

Hyundai has released a teaser image of the new-generation Verna, ahead of the car's official launch in India. The new Verna is expected to be introduced in the country in August 2017.

The new-gen Verna will be based on Hyundai's updated Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy. As a result, it is expected to get the company's new cascading grille at the front, flanked on both sides by swept-back headlamps. The teaser image also shows presence of DRLs on the lower edge of the headlights. The side profile of the new Verna is expected to adorn a sleeker look, as compared to the model that is currently on sale. The rear will get a significantly updated derriere with wraparound taillights that will likely house LED inserts on the higher variants.

The interiors of the new Verna are also expected to be updated with a new dashboard design, updated instrument cluster and a larger touchscreen system that will likely come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The new Verna isn't likely to get any changes in the engine department. As a result, it is expected to be offered with 1.4L and 1.6L petrol and diesel power plants. Speculations had suggested that Hyundai will introduce its mild-hybrid technology with the new Verna. However, since the government has withdrawn all subsidy benefits from mild hybrid vehicles, Hyundai isn't likely to go ahead with the earlier plan.

The new Verna will try to regain its lost market share from its arch rivals - the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City.
