Volkswagen has teased an all-new compact SUV for the global market. The new Volkswagen SUV, internally called 'A0' is scheduled to make its global debut sometime next year.
As per reports, the all-new compact SUV is likely to be called 'Volkswagen Yeh'. While the production version will come out next year, the prototype is expected to be unveiled in Brazil very soon. The Volkswagen A0 will be based on the brand's MQB-A0 platform which underpins models like the Nivus, T-Cross and the current-gen Polo in the South American markets. This platform is similar to the MQB-A0-IN architecture which underpins the Taigun and Virtus, as well as the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia in India.
Reports further suggest the Volkswagen A0 will be positioned below the Taigun. It is said to have a wheelbase of around 2.5 metres. The upcoming small SUV will feature Volkswagen's latest design language which includes a slimmer front grille, tall bumper and connected tail lamps. The A0 SUV is also expected to come with a coupe-like roofline.
Skoda has already announced a new SUV, the 'Kylaq' for India next year. The Skoda Kylaq will also be underpinned by the MQB-A0-IN platform and positioned below the Kushaq.
Details of the upcoming Volkswagen SUV are scarce, with more information expected to be revealed once the prototype is unveiled.
