New zero-emissions electric cruise ship concept unveiled

As per reports, the first electric cruiser ship from the company will come out in 2030.

Hurtigruten, a Norwegian cruise line company has revealed its plans to introduce a one-of-a-kind zero-emissions ship in the near future.

The company showcased the first concepts of the "Sea Zero"; expected to be the world's most energy-efficient cruise ship. As per reports, the first electric cruiser ship from the company will come out in 2030. As an industry first, the electric cruise ship will combine a number of ways to harness solar and wind power while out at sea, for a truly zero-emission experience.

This includes three retractable wings which have 1500 sq.m of solar panels and a total wind surface of 750 sq.m. Further, the wings are designed to enhance aerodynamics. The renewable energy from the sails or the charging port is stored in a massive 60 mWh battery storage system.

The ship itself is designed aerodynamically, offering guests more living space while also having areas to enjoy the view while out in the sea. Further to this, the two thrusters underwater will also retract into the hull while cruising.
