Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio leaked ahead of debut

These appear to be pre-production models fresh off the assembly line.

New images of the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio have leaked online. Unlike the camouflaged test mules, these appear to be pre-production models fresh off the assembly line.

We say it's a pre-production car as it still has the old Mahindra logo on the radiator grille. The front fascia has a lot of chrome as well. The SUV has twin-pod headlamps and a silver skid plate. One of the cars is equipped with fog lamps.

The new Scorpio gets a side-hinged tailgate with large tail lamp clusters. It also gets black plastic cladding all around. Some of other details that standout are the dual-tone alloy wheels, pull-type door handles, interior grab handle on A-pillar and a bonnet that does not have hydraulic struts.

The new Scorpio (codenamed: Z101) is expected to be based on a ladder-frame chassis. It is likely to be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk motor producing around 130 BHP. Mahindra might also offer a more powerful diesel engine that could be reserved for higher variants equipped with all-wheel drive.
