Next-gen Mahindra Thar hard top caught testing

The first images of the next generation Mahindra Thar with a hard top have surfaced online. The latest set of spy images reveal a test mule featuring a hard top that has a rear glass. 

The next generation Thar is expected to be based on the Gen3 chassis that also underpins the Scorpio and TUV300. The car is visibly wider than the current generation. It is likely to have a wider track and could get a suspension that's setup for road use. It could also miss out on an independent rear suspension. 

The new model is expected to be powered by a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a manual gearbox and all-wheel drive with low range. Rumours suggest that Mahindra might also offer an automatic variant.
