Next-gen Mahindra Thar interior, rear spied undisguised

Spy images showing the next-gen Mahindra Thar's interior and almost undisguised rear profile have surfaced online. The pictures also show the front-facing rear seats of the Thar.

On the inside, the Thar gets a multifunction steering wheel, a touchscreen head unit on the centre console, carbon fibre-like trim around the AC vents, chrome trim around the gear levers, and Thar branding on the doors. At the rear, the SUV gets front-facing seats with adjustable head rests. It also appears to get roof-mounted speakers.

On the outside, the Thar comes with a silver scuff plate on the rear bumper and side steps that are neatly integrated with the wheel arches. It also gets Thar branding on the tail lamps and the ORVMs. The SUV rides on 5-spoke black alloy wheels.

The new Thar will get soft top and hard top options. The car seen in these images has a hard top. It is expected to be based on the Gen3 chassis and appears to be wider than the outgoing car. The SUV could be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine producing 187 BHP and 380 Nm and a 138 BHP 2.2-litre diesel engine. Transmission options might include an automatic and a 6-speed manual. It could also get a diesel AT variant.

The next generation Thar will be unveiled on August 15, 2020.
