Next-gen Maruti Swift spotted in Lonavala during TVC shoot

The next-gen Maruti Swift was last spotted in India back in September 2017. Now, as Maruti gears-up for its launch, an India-spec Swift has been spotted during a TVC shoot in Lonavala.

The third-generation Swift shares its platform with the new Baleno. It has been given a design overhaul, which includes a new hexagonal grille, swept back headlights with LED DRLs and a new front bumper. The hatchback gets blacked-out A and B-pillars, while the C-pillar has been partially blacked-out. The rear features redesigned tailgate and wraparound tail lights. The spy image suggests that the Indian-spec Swift is likely to get 5-spoke, diamond cut alloy wheels. Inside, the car gets a redesigned dashboard and a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system. The new Swift comes with a three-spoke steering wheel and a twin-pod instrument cluster.

In India, the new Swift will get the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine options. These will be offered with either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. In addition to the aforementioned engines, Maruti might introduce its home grown 1.5-litre diesel engine on the new Swift, replacing the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre unit. Besides, there have been rumours suggesting that Maruti might be considering the Swift Sport with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and the Swift Hybrid.

The next-gen Swift will be unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo and could be launched sometime next year.
