Next-gen Toyota Camry teased ahead of Detroit debut

Toyota has released a teaser image of the next-gen Camry, ahead of its official world debut at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The image shows a section of the car's rear portion. The automaker has also announced that it will be live streaming the Camry's debut on January 9, 2017. The event can be watched here.

The teaser image reveals that the new Camry will get a revised tail light cluster, which will sit atop a faux air vent on the rear bumper. The taillight appears to feature LEDs, while a boot lid-mounted spoiler is also visible. Earlier spy shots of the sedan have pointed towards the new model getting a low shoulder line, larger windows and door-mounted ORVMs.

Based on the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, the new Camry is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine. The base models are likely to continue with the 2.5-litre, naturally aspirated unit. A hybrid powertrain will also be on offer. Media reports have also suggested that Toyota might offer a TRD version of the Camry, though it will be introduced later in the car's lifetime.
