Nightmarish Tata Tiago booking experience in Mumbai

Sad thing is, strong and promising make in India products like Tiago have to suffer because of this buffoonery.

MadTitan47 recently shared this with other BHPians.

Being an owner of Tiago 2019, I suggested the same for one of my friend. This turned out to be a colossal mistake.

We booked the car in the first week of January at Wasan Motors Pvt Ltd, Chembur. It was made clear to them that the car had to be delivered in the first half of February, which was required by my friend's employer. The sales executives, Mr. N and Ms. S, promised to deliver the car in 4-5 weeks. However, from more than a month, they are lying through their teeth. Every time we enquire about the car, they have the same reason that Tata is not allotting any Tiago due to shortage in some electronic chips. This is entirely incorrect because the shortage is there from the last one year, not something new. They should have known the status in January itself.

Whenever we confront them, they innocently come up with the same excuse telling us to wait till today evening, or tomorrow morning and we will allot you the first car given to us. But if you believe them, not a single car has been allotted to them by Tata Motors. Once they gave the excuse that we have received one car but you have to pay the increased price for it. When we questioned it, and asked how they can ask for more, if TATA itself has declared that the old prices would be valid for the bookings done before 22nd January, they cancelled the car and gave it to someone else saying that the online system does not allow billing at old prices.

Till today, they have the audacity to say wait for fifteen more minutes and we will get back to you.

After so many years, the memories of going to Government offices for certificates got revived. The treatment is so pathetic by the dealership. Their words carry zero weightage!!!

Finally understood why people want to avoid Tata dealerships like plague.

Sad thing is, strong and promising make in India products like Tiago have to suffer because of this buffoonery.

Here's what BHPian Engine_Roars had to say on the matter:

Unfortunate, but I don't think it is fair to blame Tata for this one. There are rogue dealers across the brands. There are many happy Tata customers believe it or not. I don't own a Tata, never have because I don't have the capacity to deal with niggles & quality issues. However, I do believe they are trying hard to prove themselves.

Have you tried escalating this to the higher ups? This looks like a dealer specific issue & Tata can not sort it for you unless they know about it.

Here's what GTO had to say on the matter:

Tata somehow has the worst pre-sales experiences. While bad dealers exist for other brands too, what is more concerning to me is this: "Complaint has been registered with TATA Motors for more than a week now, without any updates."

Why the hell has Tata not stepped in to resolve this? Am sure this thread will get the attention of higher-ups though. Do provide the booking name or receipt here, so they know which customer the complaint is for.

If you really like the car, I'd suggest still going ahead with it. Reasons outlined in this article of mine.
