Nissan appoints Makoto Uchida as CEO

Nissan has appointed Makoto Uchida as the next CEO. He is currently serving as the Managing Executive Officer and President of Dongfeng Motor Co. Ltd and is expected to assume his new role on or before January 1, 2020.

Hiroto Saikawa, CEO of Nissan, resigned over a pay scandal in September 2019. Yasuhiro Yamauchi temporarily took the role of CEO. Hiroto has been accused of receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of share option payments and was asked to resign by the Board of Directors. He has denied any wrong-doing and is expected to return all the extra funds.

Nissan has also appointed Ashwani Gupta as the Representative Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Jun Seki as the Executive Vice COO.
