Nissan could launch Patrol SUV in India

According to a media report, Nissan could launched the Patrol in India. The SUV is likely to be launched only with a petrol engine in the country.

The Patrol is expected to be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) under the government's scheme which allows the import of up to 2,500 units per year without having to be homologated.

The current generation Patrol received an update in 2019. It got a revised front fascia featuring a new grille with a mesh grille and horizontal chrome slats and new headlamps that have C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The front bumper houses a pair of fog lights and has chrome inserts.

The Patrol has blacked-out A, B and C-pillars, chrome ORVMs and door handles. It has chrome trim around the windows, chrome fender vents and alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV gets wraparound LED tail lights and a roof spoiler.

In global markets, the Nissan Patrol is offered with two petrol engine options - 4.0-litre V6 with 275 BHP and 394 Nm and a 5.6-litre V8 that puts out 400 BHP and 560 Nm of torque. In India, the SUV is likely to get the 5.6-litre V8 engine.

The Nissan Patrol is expected to compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX in India.
