Nissan Kicks SUV launch confirmed for 2018

The Nissan Kicks was first showcased at the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show in concept form. Now, according to a media report, Nissan plans to launch the Kicks SUV in India next year.

Like the Duster and the recently unveiled Renault Captur, the Nissan Kicks is also based on the M0 platform. At the front, it gets Nissan’s V-shaped grille flanked by wraparound headlights. It gets a dual-tone front bumper with integrated fog lamps. The Kicks has a floating roof finished in a contrasting colour and blacked-out A, B and C-pillars. The flared wheel arches are filled with dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear features a wraparound windshield and “boomerang-shaped” tail lights.

The Kicks is offered with a dual-tone interior with a centrally mounted 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. It has an automatic climate control with circular air vents on either side and gets a three-spoke, flat-bottom, multi-functional steering wheel with silver inserts. The instrument cluster consists of an analogue speedometer on one side and a configurable readout on the other with a central MID.

In Brazil, the Nissan Kicks is offered with a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which can run on ethanol as well. This engine produces 112 BHP @ 5,600 rpm and 152 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and is offered with a choice of a CVT or 5-speed manual gearbox.

Although there has been no official word on the engines that will be offered on the India-spec Kicks, it might share the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines with the Renault Captur.
