Nissan to launch Sunny facelift in June

Japanese carmaker, Nissan is gearing up to launch the facelifted Sunny sedan in India. If media reports are anything to go by, the car could hit showrooms as early as the second or third week of June 2014.

Nissan had showcased the updated Sunny at the Auto Expo which was held earlier this year. The company has made styling changes to the exterior of the car which includes new headlights, front bumper and grille. Chrome has been used liberally on the grille, the fog lamp housings and the bumper chin. The alloy wheels of the car have been redesigned and ORVMs now get integrated turn indicators. The rear bumper comes with black plastic inserts along the bottom.

The interior of the Sunny has also been tweaked. There is a new leather-wrapped steering wheel that looks like the one found on the Teana premium sedan, audio system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, reversing camera and a piano black centre console. Safety equipment is likely to include anti-lock braking system (ABS) and airbags.

The facelifted Sunny will not feature any changes to the engines and transmissions. Like the current Sunny, there will be a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol unit that puts out 98 bhp and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel motor that produces 85 bhp. Both engines will come with a 5-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the car will be available with a 101 bhp petrol engine that is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
